Newsletter Term 4 Weeks 1 & 2
Executive Report
Welcome back to the final term of 2024! We hope everyone had a restful break and is ready for an exciting and productive Term 4.
A huge congratulations to all involved in our Graduation Ceremony held on the Thursday evening of the last week of Term 3. It was a memorable event, and we are incredibly proud of our graduates as they embark on the next chapter of their journeys. A special thank you to our dedicated staff who worked tirelessly to ensure the event was a success. It was well organised, ran smoothly and celebrated the culture of the college. Thank you to all who gave tirelessly of their time and a special thank you to Maria Alonzo who has overseen a great process and organisational structure. A huge thank you also to Bella and Tracy who, with Christy, ensured a memorable and positive last week for our Year 12 students.
We are also thrilled to announce the appointment of our new School Captains for 2025! At Graduation our 2025 Captains were announced. It is with great pleasure that we announce that our 2025 College Captains are Emma de Jong Katz and Poppy Haggstrom. They will be ably assisted by Shahaf Liaz and Eden Zilka our College Vice Captains. The process and requirements for Captains were developed by the SRC and past leaders. One unique feature of our process is that we do not have specified Boys or Girls Captains, it is purely on merit. We congratulate the incoming captains and look forward to working with them to enhance student leadership and change at the College.
Speaking of the HSC and our new captains, we had the honour of welcoming Deputy Premier, Prue Carr, CEO of NESA, Paul Martin and Member for Coogee, Dr Marjorie O'Neill MP to RBSC on Monday, 14th October to officially mark the commencement of this year's HSC. It was a privilege to have such an esteemed guest on campus, and we are delighted to share that the Deputy Premier was very impressed with our school captains' poise and leadership.
As we move deeper into Term 4, we remind all students of the importance of regular homework and revision to be well-prepared for upcoming assessments and final exams. Developing consistent study routines now will lay a strong foundation for success, particularly for our Year 12 students as they head into their first HSC assessments. We look forward to a wonderful term ahead, filled with achievement, collaboration, and celebration.
IEF News
The IEF students have taken on a significant role in promoting uniform engagement across the whole school. Each morning, in IEF Work Skills Lab, they dedicate their first two periods to managing the uniform initiative. As part of their Work Skills outcomes, they wash, dry, itemize, label, and hang uniforms, preparing them for students who may need to borrow items. The IEF students warmly greet mainstream students, assist them in selecting the right item and size, and ensure they leave feeling comfortable for the day. Borrowed uniforms are then returned the next day, leaving it up to the students to collect their personal items after school.
Wearing the correct uniform fosters a sense of belonging, promotes comfort and equality, and aids in identifying any potential trespassers. We are proud of our IEF students for their dedication to this initiative, helping everyone feel like part of the school community.

Year 10,11 and 12 students.
An important part of being an effective student is being able to take notes.
Cornell Note Taking is one way of managing note taking. Please see me at the desk if you need some help.
We also help with Note Making –
Meaning of Note Making
Making notes is the activity of keeping records from many sources. It is more than just writing down what you hear or see. Note taking is a more cerebral activity than note taking because it requires you to choose, analyse; and summarise what you hear and read. Making notes is thus an active way of study because it requires you to think because you must make decisions about what you write.
Examples of Note Making:
Mind Mapping
Digital Gardening
Zettelkasten method
Interested? Come into the Library and ask for assistance.
Mindfulness – Senior Students esp. New Year 12 students…
Another important aspect of schooling is mindfulness. Please join us Tuesday mornings (Senior study space) for some tips on meditation and managing stress.

If you would like to organise a book club for your year please see the front desk.
Calling all Year 11 and 12 Advanced Maths Students…

Library Volunteers
We will place a notice on TEAMs calling for volunteers. PLEASE LOOK TO YOUR TEAMS PAGE AND MAKE APPLICATION… OR COME IN AND SEE US AT THE FRONT DESK.
We are encouraging students who would like experience in ‘Display’ to join our growing number of volunteers. If you are interested in Window Display, Book Display, Wall display, then a career in Visual Merchandising, might be for you. Please see the Library Front Desk if you would like to volunteer or if you need some help writing a Resume
