Executive Report
Teacher Twilight
This week, our staff participated in a Twilight Professional Development, an inspiring initiative focused on enhancing our professional practice. Key topics such as our Anti-Bullying Plan, Numeracy and feedback from the High Leverage Strategy survey were discussed. We explored High Impact Teaching Skills equipping us with the tools to enhance student learning outcomes. The evening was a resounding success, and we look forward to our continued professional growth.
Year 11 Exams
A reminder and good luck to all students and parents that Year 11 exams commence next week. These assessments are a crucial milestone in your academic journey, providing an opportunity to demonstrate your knowledge and skills. We encourage all Year 11 students to use this time wisely, revising key concepts, and practicing past papers to ensure they are fully prepared. Best of luck to everyone—your hard work will pay off!
Teachers Triumph in Year 12 Games
In an exhilarating start to the annual Teachers vs. Year 12 Games, the teachers’ team claimed their first victory on the netball court with a stunning 6-0 win! The competition was fierce, but our teachers' proved unbeatable. Congratulations to the team for their outstanding performance! We can't wait to see what other exciting matchups lie ahead. Stay tuned for more updates as the series continues!
High School catchment areas
High School intake areas in Sydney and Eastern Suburbs have changed to accommodate student population growth and to align enrolment areas with feeder primary schools where possible. The changes affect new enrolment applications received from Thursday, 29 August 2024 with consideration of the following:
- Current students at impacted high schools will not be required to change schools.
- Siblings of local students can still enrol at the same school together, even if the intake area adjustments make their home address out of area.
- Preferences submitted by Year 6 students for Year 7 enrolment in 2025 remain valid, however if students living in areas impacted by the changes would prefer to enrol at their new local school they may do so.
The intake areas can be found on the School Finder website schoolfinder.education.nsw.gov.au.
IEF News
The IEF students took a hands-on approach to learning during Cultures Day by running their Op 4 Inclusion charity shop. The students skillfully set up the shop, managed customer inquiries, and operated it during recess and lunch, putting their retail and money-handling skills to the test. At the end of the day, they successfully packed down the shop, showcasing their teamwork and organizational abilities. The experience was a resounding success, highlighting the students' hard work and enthusiasm.
Sydney Academy Of Chess' Interschool Chess Challange Semi-Final
5 students from the school's Chess Club participated in the Sydney Academy Of Chess' Interschool Chess Challange Semi-Final on Thursday 29/8 at Kogarah Marist College.
They were about 14 teams in the secondary division and the competition was hard. Only the top four teams qualified to the final. Our students did well and finished 7 overall.
The plan for term 4 is to have the school's chess championship. It'll take place on 6/12 in the Hall and will be organised by the P&C Chess Committee, myself and our Chess Instructor, Mr David Miller.
Please stay tuned for more information.
