Why Choose Public Education?
Executive Report
With a busy week full of assessment tasks, Rose Bay Secondary College was able to take a moment to celebrate the achievements of students with a whole school assembly to end Week 7. The TAS faculty showcased their exemplary projects across all subject areas. We had an inspirational TED Talk shared by one of our students, Mielle, which provided a powerful insight into overcoming adversity and acknowledging the wonderful things our loved ones do daily. Maths acknowledged the hard work and dedication of our young mathematicians in Year 7, who have achieved outstanding results in their course.
Celebrating student achievement is something that is embedded within our school culture and occurs regularly. We look forward to our next celebration assembly where student success will be celebrated by Science and PDHPE.

IEF 3 Sydney Cricket Ground Tour
On Friday 7th June, IEF 3 visited The Sydney Cricket Ground. The Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) is a sports stadium in Moore Park. It hosts cricket games, as well as Australian rules football. It is the home ground for the New South Wales Blues cricket team and the Sydney Swans of the Australian Football League.
Our amazing tour guide Stewart gave us an exciting tour of the stadium. We were very lucky to get the opportunity to watch the Sydney Swans team train in preparation for their game against Geelong. We watched them work on different plays and tactics and even got to hold one of their AFL balls. We visited the Cricket changing rooms and sat in the same chairs as some of the most famous Australian Cricketers like Marnus Labuschagne, Usman Tariq Khawaja, Mitchell March and Pat Cummins.
We then visited the AFL changing rooms, exploring the team meeting room and recovery facilities. Here we watched a short film about the history of sport in the SCG. We visited the media room in the newly built Noble and Bradman Stands where there was an amazing view of the whole stadium. We explored The SCG Museum and saw some of the iconic memorabilia donated by past and present players throughout the years like football boots and jerseys etc. We had an amazing day!
Selective High School applications 2025 - Years 8 to 10

Model United Nations Assembly
On the 8th of June, 3 members from our school; Doug (Year 10) and Dante and Sarah (Year 11), were lucky enough to represent Rose Bay at the MUNA, or Model United Nations Assembly in NSW Parliament House.
Rose Bay were lucky enough to be Zone Champions of the Rotary Debating Competition, and therefore were able to represent the Rose Bay Rotary Club at the event. Each of the schools were drawn a country, and were assigned the role of UN delegates of that country, with Rose Bay representing Japan.
There were 3 major resolutions for debate, one about the prevention of an arms race in outer space (taken by Doug), one about Smuggling of Migrants (taken by Dante), and one about the preservation of Cultural Heritage (taken by Sarah), specifically regarding countries like the United Kingdom stealing artifacts and not returning them.
This opportunity was amazing, and was a new format unlike previous Model UN competitions undertaken by Rose Bay. Different teams were marked based on their authenticity and accuracy to their countries opinions and diplomatic stance, as well as Matter, Manner and Method. While unlucky to not win any awards, the school and participating students are extremely thankful to the Rose Bay Rotary Club, as well as Ms Godby, Mr Papas and Kim Kench for their organisational work. The school was lucky enough to benefit from previous experiences in the Model UN competitions held at Cranbrook, which have been organized by Mr Weavers and Ms Callinan.
Overall, the MUNA competition and Model UN has been a great opportunity for students of the Rose Bay Community to enhance their Public Speaking and Debating Skills on a great stage, and we look forward to competing to enter MUNA in future years.
