Why Choose Public Education?
Executive Report
We are officially halfway through the term, and we have many things to celebrate. The Battle of Bands occurred this week with the senior Rock Band Program entertaining the school during the breaks. The Junior Rock Bands will be performing next week. A big thank you to the Music Ensemble Program, the teachers and our students for putting on a great show.
Years 10, 11 and 12 students were invited to our RBSC Careers Day. Ms Gina Lockton and her team of dedicated teachers and students organised for universities, the ADF, overseas sporting programs and employers to come to the school to talk to students about the post-school options. Ms Lockton also organised for ex-students to be present to chat with our current students, giving them advice and lived experience of leaving high school and transitioning into their next stage of life. It was a real treat for the teachers to see their past students thriving and happily willing to support RBSC in this important event.
And finally, today our Under 15s Netball Team beat Sylvania Waters with an impressive 91 to 12 win. Thank you to Ms Adele Flack for coaching and organising the event and congratulations to the team who are moving on to the next round.
IEF News
Our Support Unit students had a great and educational experience this week as they accessed the kitchens to learn about oven safety and baking. Under the guidance of the IEF staff, the students made delicious chocolate pastry boxes. This hands-on activity not only taught them valuable kitchen skills but also emphasized the importance of safety while using the oven.
The students were thrilled to enjoy their homemade treats, understanding that these chocolate pastry boxes are a "sometimes food" to be savored on special occasions. This practical lesson in both cooking and nutrition was a wonderful opportunity for our students to gain confidence and competence in the kitchen, while also enjoying the sweet rewards of their hard work.
We are proud of their enthusiasm and achievements and look forward to more culinary adventures in the future!

COMMUNITY LIAISON OFFICER
Dear Rose Bay Secondary College Community,
I am thrilled to introduce myself as your new Community Liaison Officer, Nadia Kaye. It is a privilege to be part of such a vibrant and inclusive school community.
You might be wondering, what exactly does a Community Liaison Officer do? Well, in essence, I am here to be a bridge between the school, parents, and the wider community, all with the ultimate
goal of enhancing the well-being, happiness, and educational outcomes of our students.
My roots in the Eastern Suburbs run deep, having attended both Dover Heights and Vaucluse High Schools, now known as Rose Bay Secondary College. Over the years, I've been actively
involved in various community endeavours, from playing, coaching and managing local sports clubs to working at local gyms and teaching at a nearby public school.
With a background as a trained PDHPE teacher and extensive experience as the head of the P&C at Vaucluse Public School, I bring a wealth of knowledge and a deep understanding of the importance of community engagement. In my previous role, I coordinated many events, facilitated communication between the school and the community, and supported parents and families through various challenges.
As an advocate for RBSC, I am here to support the staff, parents, and students alike. With a vested interest in the school, as my daughter is the third generation to attend, I approach this role not only with an abundance of energy and enthusiasm, but with kindness and compassion. I am deeply committed to ensuring that every member of our community feels valued and supported.
I really look forward to working closely with everyone to build upon
the wonderful community we have here at Rose Bay SecondaryCollege.

This is a fantastic opportunity for poets and storytellers to showcase their talents. Whether you have a passion for crafting stories/ writing poetry or are new to the idea; this is the opportunity for you.
Why not? - just do it! You might win.
Come to the library front desk for some help starting. We have made a Picture Book Display to inspire you.
We believe that the magic of a good picture book is unparalleled, offering a plethora of inspiration for writers of all ages. To spark your creativity, we have set up a special Picture Book display in the library. These books, rich with vibrant illustrations and captivating narratives, are perfect for stimulating your imagination.
A picture book can be a powerful stimulus for writing, whether in prose or rhyme (want to know the difference? Ask at the front desk in the library). The images and stories in the picture books may inspire you to write stories about different worlds, stories that evoke deep emotions, and or spark fabulous feelings and ideas. Of course, you can look to essays and other short stories in the library, but nothing beats the stimulus of a good picture book to get your imagination going. As you browse through the display, look at
the art and words for ideas. Think about how you can interpret the scenes, characters, and themes into your own unique story or poem.
The display has been made to stimulate character inspiration, theme exploration and to encourage writers to explore mood and atmosphere.
How to Participate?
