News from the Music Ensemble Program
The students are all looking forward to playing for you at next week's ensembles and rock band concerts. The music ensembles will be performing on 15 June and the rock bands on 16 June. Both concerts will be held in the hall and start at 6:30pm. There will be pizza available from around 4:30pm for $5.50 for a quarter-pizza slice and soft drinks will also be available to purchase. To raise much-needed funds to support MEP’s program we will be holding a raffle at each concert with some great prizes. We are grateful to First Education tutoring who have very generously donated two $450 vouchers for 5 sessions of tutoring. The raffles will also include gift vouchers for other local businesses. We can’t wait to see you there and bring your family and friends!
If you’d like to be part of a band it’s not too late to join MEP. Check out the MEP website at for more information or contact us by email.
P&C Meeting Tuesday 14 June 2022
We are very excited to let you know that the next P&C Meeting is Tuesday 14 June at 7pm in the school hall. Entry will be via the gates in front of the hall. All parents, carers and school community members are welcome. We especially look forward to welcoming those new to the school.
We will be having a special presentation from Dayne Stanger. He will be presenting the RBSC Literacy Plan at the meeting.
Membership of the P&C and voting rights is by gold coin donation which can be paid online or in person at the meeting. Please note, the P&C voluntary contribution paid with school fees is separate from the gold coin donation for P&C voting rights. In order to vote the P&C Federation requires you to be a financial member, this is achieved with a gold coin donation. The P&C voluntary contribution allows RBSC P&C to provide funding to many school programs and projects.
If paying by bank transfer, the bank details for a gold coin donation are:
Name: RBSC P&C
BSB: 062238
Account: 10113005
Payments should note ‘P&C 2022 + name’ so membership can be verified.
Please also send an email to the P&C with a copy of the bank receipt.
Please feel free to email us.
The agenda and meeting documents are available 7 days prior on the P&C Public Drive.

Library News and Reviews
What or whom for the uninitiated is MANGA? I asked around and was surprised how many of those I surveyed, actually, didn’t know. Manga is the Japanese word for graphic novel, ( or so I am told, as I didn’t know this term, till quite recently either)“oh”, they said “Ok ye, now I know.” For those who still looked blank, the mention of the words “comic books” brought a knowing smile and the acknowledgement of hours of easy reading enjoyment.
As a way of encouraging fast paced adventure story reading, our RBSC library, has a vast array of graphic novels, a large bookcase in fact. There are umpteen different series with 10 – 20 books in each series. Very popular amongst the initiated, they are a great resource to suggest to your students or children to begin fostering a love of reading. As usual library staff are here to assist with the decision-making process if needed.
As usual a reminder that the Premiers Reading Challenge (PRC) is well under way and all books for the challenge are clearly labelled on the spine, indicating not only that they are for the PRC but also indicate what stage they are geared towards. This makes it very easy for students to choose a book.
If anyone has a book they have read and loved, please let Lynn Saber know as I would love to review it.
