How to Listen so Kids will Talk
From the Senior Executive
HSC and signing-out
This Friday saw the conclusion of this year’s HSC examinations, with Food Technology as the last exam. This year’s cohort continued to exemplify themselves as responsible, diligent and motivated students under the pressure of examination conditions. The Presiding Officer and invigilators frequently commented on these qualities in our students and we are very proud of them. The senior executive team would also like to acknowledge the preciseness of the organisation and care of the staff who oversaw these examinations. Anna Buckley as Deputy Principal of Year 12, Jess Gray, relieving Head Teacher, Teaching and Learning and Year Advisors Juliet Beiglari and James Weavers.
Students, parents and carers will soon receive information about official ‘signing out’ procedures for Year 12. During the signing-out day, students will present to the Hall where Head Teachers and administrative staff will sign-out students. Parents and students will need to ensure that all textbooks are returned and accounts settled. Payments reminders are currently being sent to parents and carers. Students and parents will be also able to settle accounts on the day if this cannot be completed beforehand.
We wish the Year 12s the very best of wishes as they embark on a new and exciting chapter in their lives. As a cohort, they have faced numerous challenges, embraced new experiences and grown in many ways during their time with us. We are incredibly proud of the hard work, dedication and resilience they have shown throughout their high school years.
We also express our gratitude to you, the parents and carers, for your unwavering support in nurturing these promising young individuals. Your encouragement, guidance and love has been instrumental in helping them reach this milestone.
Planning for Assessments 7-12
A reminder that assessment information is available by accessing our online assessment planner. Students are beginning to receive their assessment notifications and should be working toward preparation for exams and completion of hand-in tasks. Our Homework Club is an outstanding resource available to all students, with experienced and helpful tutors on hand to assist students in understanding assessment task requirements, building understanding and how to develop skills to target improvement and success. The Homework Club operates in the Bob Bellear Library, each Monday and Wednesday from 3:30pm-5:00pm.

All Years - Bus behaviour
I have had concerns raised with me by members of the public about the disrespectful behaviour of a number of students who are catching the bus from the Shuk bus stop.
The College policy is that students should be catching the buses from school, where there is full supervision and processes to ensure students can safely catch their buses home.
The College also expects all our students to show exemplary respect and responsibility in the community. If any student is behaving disrespectfully and can be identified as a member of the College then disciplinary action can be taken.
I am aware the majority of our students behave with great pride and respect in the community, and I am disappointed that the actions of a few are tarnishing the reputation of the majority of our students.
Library News
Thank You
A big thank you to the overwhelming majority of senior students who have been accessing the Library for their timetabled study periods these past couple of weeks. Library staff have noted a real effort to comply with Library procedures and meet expectations during these sessions. Please keep it up.
Remember, it’s as simple as storing your bag in the bag room, signing on the senior sign on sheet, having something to work on in front of you and keeping your noise to a reasonable level for study. Please finish any food or drink before entering the Library. These few things ensure the Library is a calm, welcoming space conducive for study free of trip hazards, rubbish and excessive noise. If you prefer a more quiet space, the senior study area is available at the rear of the Library.
Returning Overdue Resources
The Library Assistants have been hard at work issuing overdue notices to a large number of students with overdue resources, including textbooks, laptops and laptop chargers. Most of these items are textbooks or English set texts (novels) used in classes. Please, if you have received an overdue notice, do your best to try to locate the item and return it as soon as possible. There will be no penalty for returned items, regardless of how long overdue they might be, but invoices may be issued for seniors signing out in Week 5 with outstanding materials. We have recently audited our resource collections and know what is in stock. So please check!
Homework Club
Homework Club continues on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:30-5:00pm. It’s great to see many returning students week-on-week. Come along, bring something to work on and access the great tutors who come in to help you in their own time. Miss Hawke has also assured us she restocks the biscuit box regularly!
