Record of School Achievement and Higher School Certificate Explained
The awarding of external credentials such as the Record of School Achievement (RoSA) and the Higher School Certificate (HSC) is a highly valuable goal for all students from Years 10 through 12.
Below is some information regarding the RoSA and HSC.
Record of School Achievement (RoSA)
A RoSA credential is important to students who wish to leave school prior to receiving their HSC. All students are able to access their RoSA information online from the end of Year 10 onward.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the RoSA, a student must:
· Attend a government school, an accredited non-government school or a recognised school outside NSW
· Undertake and complete courses of study that satisfy the BOSTES curriculum and assessment requirements for the Record of School Achievement
· Comply with any other regulations or requirements (such as attendance
· Complete Year 10
The Higher School Certificate (HSC)
The HSC is an internationally recognised qualification for students who have successfully completed secondary education in NSW. The HSC is flexible and accessible to all students. There’s a wide variety of subjects to choose from for the HSC, along with a range of Board-Endorsed courses.
The syllabuses make it clear to everyone what students are expected to learn and be able to do in each course by the end of Year 12. Sample examination questions and marking guidelines, provided by NESA, help students set goals and understand the level of achievement expected.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the HSC, students must:
· Have gained qualifications that the NESA considers satisfactory
· Attend a government school, an accredited non-government school or a school outside of NSW recognised by NESA
· Satisfactorily complete a pattern of study required by NESA for the HSC (this may include examinations, coursework and attendance)
RSBC Library News and Reviews
Premiers Reading Challenge runs to the middle of August, so there is still plenty of time to sign up and read. We encourage all students to take up the challenge. Parents and teachers please encourage your students/children to participate in this worthwhile past time
This week I wanted to highlight a Library favourite series; Diary of a Wimpy Kid. Popular with readers of varying ages around the world, this easy to read, series is famed for its “laugh out loud humour” and hilarious content.
The main character, Greg Heffley, illustrates his daily life in his dairy as he navigates the trials and tribulations of middle school. The book is set out as a journal with big easy to read print and wonderful illustrations.
Greg Heffley, just wants to be popular in school and the journaling his experiences is something his mother encouraged him to do. Attending a new school, he encounters taller and meaner kids who bully undersize weaklings. Greg tries his best to fit in with the cool mature crowd and gets upset as he realizes that his childish sidekick Rowley is gaining more attention than he is.
As a character he does not always make wholesome choices but Greg is a real life character and does sometimes do the wrong thing.
Reading the series in order allows one to grow up with Greg as he confronts real issues like bullying and friendship and encourages the reader to make their own decisions about many of the issues a middle student faces.
The author Jeff Kinney, also a cartoonist, spent eight years working on his novel before showing it to a publisher. He now has 16 books in the series, a movie and a spin off series, where one can now get to know his best friend and sidekick Rowley and follow his middle school escapades through his own journal.

Congratulations and thank you to the teachers for participating in today's final - ending the time with 5-5 and scoring 2 goals in the penalty shoot out for the win!
