From the Senior Executive
Free parent webinar - eSafety parent guide to digital technologies and mental health
This webinar will provide parents and carers with an understanding of how games, apps and social media can influence young people’s mental wellbeing. It is designed for parents and carers of young people aged 10-18 and will cover:
- current research on young people, time online and mental health
- what do to about accidental exposure to content about suicide, self-harm or eating disorders
- using games, apps and social media to support mental wellbeing
- strategies for young people to support friends online.
Weekly assembly focus
One of the foci for our student led assemblies on Tuesday was attendance. Attendance is a crucial part of school engagement and success. Even small absences can make an impact on your child’s ability to keep up with their learning.
External Sport Update
Basketball - Winners are grinners!
14A Boys
The yr 7 14A Boys Basketball team won the Grand Final for Division 2 on the weekend. They will be promoted to Division 1 for the next competition.
Well done boys. Well done coaches.
14B Boys
The 14B Boys team has been progressing well.
It is their first season as a team and the boys are progressing well. Coach Berlin is doing a good job and Mentor Coach Daniel is inspiring the team to learn and practice as much as possible. They are currently sitting equal 3rd on the table, with 3 other teams.
16 Girls
The RBSC Rebels are a team of Year 7 to 10 girls that play in the Easts Basketball League competition in the U16s competition on a Sunday afternoon. They have won 3 out of 5 games this season and are currently 4th on the ladder. Last Sunday they won 34-25 against Coogee Rocks.
Netball
Finals series starts this week. The Year 7 Blues, Year 8 Blues, Year 8 Reds, Year 10 Blues, and Seniors Blues and Reds have made it through to the qualifying finals round (everyone except year 9 team). Training is still next week for all teams.
Exciting News
Both year 7 and year 8 will be having Surf School week at the end of term 4! More news to follow in the coming weeks.
MEP Senior Concert and Senior Stage bands Gold Medal
We are delighted to announce that the RBSC MEP Senior Concert and Senior Stage bands were both awarded Gold medals in their events at the ASBOF held at the NSW Conservatorium of Music on Sunday 28 August. This is an excellent result for the school, particularly after the last couple of years. Congratulations to Murray Jackson and all the students involved in these bands. Your hard work and dedication to the Arts has definitely paid off.
Library News
Today marks the beginning of History week, themed “Hands on History” this year. It is an annual festival of History celebrated in the state of NSW and while I know many will think that “history is not really my thing, before you discount this festival it actually has a wide variety of topics covering walking tours, indigenous art, a century of song, healing from a historical perspective using traditional plants, online talks and lectures, heritage trails, interactive workshops to mention a few.

Homework club every Monday and Wednesday from 3:30 – 5:00 pm. Assistance is given to any and all students with research, homework, assignments, and any studying issues they may have.
