2023 Student Leaders announced

We had many of our year 11 students put their hands up to serve our school community as student leaders in 2023. I wish to acknowledge and thank each and everyone of these students as you are already leaders in my eyes. Student leadership is about service to our college community and many sacrifices are involved. It is so encouraging to see so many of our students want to be involved in this manner. Although you could not all be successful, I know those of you who were not, will continue in student leadership as part of the SRC and I thank you for this. This week 2023 student leaders were elected and I am delighted to announce the following leadership team:

School Captains

Maya Haggstrom & Finn O'Donnell

Vice Captains

Isaac Hemsworth-Smith & Zac Villa

Arts Captains

Jennifer Gershenfeld & Tomas Kamen

Community & Engagement Captains

Claudia Conway & Yshai Turgeman

Environment Captains

Hannah Connor & Benjamin Lore

Sports Captain

Juliana Adetunji & Macy Gordon-Heywood

IEF Captain

Evan Ryk

Congratulations to our new student leadership team and a vote of gratitude to our outgoing leadership team. The 2023 team could not have had any betters role models.

Wear it Purple Day

It is great to see so many staff and students at RBSC support Wear It Purple Day. Wear it Purple Day is a dedicated time to celebrate LGBTQIA+ people and support each other to speak out against bullying and homophobia, biphobia, transphobia and interphobia. It’s a day to show LGBTQIA+ people that we support and accept them, and that they have the right to be proud of who they are. This year’s theme, ‘Still me, still human’, reminds us to look past the label, the news story, the buzzword or the data, and remember that we are all simply human. Many thanks to the Pride team along with teachers, Ms Bella White and Ms Molly McFayden for their organisation of the day. Once again our amazing rock bands will be in action and I know our SRC students have been baking up a storm for the cake stall. Maximum student voice and involvement celebrating a day of diversity and inclusion - Rose Bay students nail it again.

Year 11 Examinations

Examinations for students in year 11 commence on Monday next week. Students were issued with timetables and examination guidelines today in a special assembly. Students were also reminded of important procedures to follow in case of illness or misadventure. If your child was absent they should check their Teams page and/or contact their year advisor to ensure they have access to all important information. We wish all of our year 11 students the best of luck with your examinations.

P&C Meeting Tuesday 6 September 2022

We are very excited to let you know that the next P&C Meeting is Tuesday 6 September at 7pm in the school hall. Entry will be via the gates in front of the hall. All parents, carers and school community members are welcome. We especially look forward to welcoming those new to the school.

We will be having a special presentation from our school librarian, Margaret McLelland. She will give a short presentation on the operation of the Bob Bellear Memorial Library and the way it supports the research and literacy programs in the school. Parents will be given an insight into the exceptional collection of e-resources that students and teachers can access and ways that parents and carers can support their child's learning at home.

Membership of the P&C and voting rights is by gold coin donation which can be paid online or in person at the meeting. Please note, the P&C voluntary contribution paid with school fees is separate from the gold coin donation for P&C voting rights. In order to vote the P&C Federation requires you to be a financial member, this is achieved with a gold coin donation. The P&C voluntary contribution allows RBSC P&C to provide funding to many school programs and projects.

If paying by bank transfer, the bank details for a gold coin donation are:

Name: RBSC P&C
BSB: 062238
Account: 10113005

Payments should note ‘P&C 2022 + name’ so membership can be verified.
Please also send an email address with bank receipt to the P&C email address.

The agenda and meeting documents are available 7 days prior on the P&C Public Drive.

Legacy Public Speaking Competition

Following Monday's regional final, Year 8 student Gus has gone through to the state semi-final of the national Legacy Public Speaking Competition!

In both the local and regional final, Gus was required to deliver a five minute prepared speech and a two minute impromptu speech. Next month's state semi-final will see Gus delivering his prepared and impromptu speeches at NSW Parliament House. Four contestants will then proceed to the state final in October, before the national final in November.

Congratulations Gus!

RBSC Library News and Reviews

Today Friday 26 August is the day we wore Purple at RBSC. It is a day where we celebrated diversity and all members of Pride Alliance. In supporting this important initiative, the library with the assistance of some students has selected and displayed some relevant books to assist with learning more, better understanding or coming to terms with all that this special day encompasses. Pop in to borrow these or other books that we have and if needed, seek assistance from the librarians if there is something specific you are after.

Reminders this week

Hoping all our HSC students have a well earned breather and remember there are a host if study guides and textbooks to better prepare for the final “hurdle”. Available to borrow on a week-by-week basis.

Homework club every Monday and Wednesday from 3:30–5:00pm. Assistance is given to any and all students with research, homework, assignments, and any studying issues they may have.
