Executive Report
As we head toward the last few weeks of term, it will continue to be a busy time for our students as they prepare and complete assessment tasks. For their remaining assessment tasks, please check in and encourage them to apply some of the study strategies that were recently launched within our signature RBSC study guide. As they receive their results from these tasks, students should not only reflect on areas for improvement within their responses, but areas for improvement within their process – the preparation and application of study skills and continue to learn and build on these with each ‘practice’ of not only formal assessment tasks, but their habitual study practices. Year 11 reports were distributed last Friday and reports for students in Years 7-10 will be distributed at the end of the term, providing opportunities for parents and students to discuss the relationship between their developing study skills and academic outcomes.
Special event: UAC Information Evening for Years 10, 11 & 12
Trudy Noller - an expert and pathways advisor from UAC will be hosting an Information Evening at RBSC on Tuesday 1st July between 6:30 and 7:15pm. Trudy is exceptionally knowledgeable and has extensive experience presenting to parents and students about all things UAC and ATAR, university entry requirements, debunking ATAR and scaling myths, SRS, EAS, Equity Scholarships and Stage 6 subject selections. Trudy's role is to travel around NSW and the ACT and deliver valuable UAC information to parents, students and staff.
This talk will be powerful in upskilling Year 10, 11 & 12 students and parents about the ATAR pattern of study and the transition into university post school.
The evening is a compulsory event for Year 10 students & their parents, and a vital piece to the puzzle of making an informed decision about their stage 6 subject selections. Students and parents of Year 11 & 12 who are ATAR eligible are strongly encouraged to attend.
Students and parents can RSVP ('get their ticket') via Humanitix
Athletics Carnival
Congratulations to all students who participated in last week’s Athletics Carnival. Such enthusiastic participation by both students and staff ensured the day’s success. An impressive 16 school records were broken with 118 students qualifying for the Zone Athletics Carnival. Thank you to the meticulous organisation and calmness of our carnival organisers, John Flack, Richella McMorrough-Enright and Luke McNaught, whom without the day could not have been the success that was enjoyed.

Introducing the RBSC Study Guide – A Resource for Academic Success
We are pleased to share that Rose Bay Secondary College has developed a definitive RBSC Study Guide in consultation with students, parents, and staff.
Over the past two days, all students attended a presentation on the RBSC Study Guide, which outlines effective study habits, time management strategies, subject-specific techniques, and how to balance school commitments with wellbeing.
We encourage all parents and carers to review these materials with their child and start a conversation about how they can be used at home to support learning and build confidence throughout the school year.

Year 9 PASS Students Explore Recovery Techniques at Rehub Wellness
On a recent excursion, Year 9 students from the PASS (Physical Activity and Sports Studies) class had the unique opportunity to visit the Rehub Wellness Centre in Bondi Junction. The purpose of the trip was to deepen their understanding of recovery methods used by athletes and fitness professionals to maintain performance and overall well-being.
During the visit, students participated in hands-on sessions using cutting-edge recovery equipment, including ice baths and saunas. These experiences allowed students to learn first-hand about the physiological and psychological benefits of contrast therapy—a technique that involves alternating between hot and cold temperatures to aid muscle recovery, reduce inflammation, and enhance circulation.
The staff at Rehub provided expert guidance, explaining how these tools are used by elite athletes as part of their regular training and recovery routines. Students asked insightful questions and engaged enthusiastically with each activity, making the most of the opportunity to connect classroom theory with real-world practice.
The excursion was not only educational but also encouraged students to reflect on the importance of recovery in sport and everyday life. As one student commented, "It was awesome to try what professional athletes use. The ice bath was freezing, but I can see how it helps your body bounce back."
Overall, the day was a great success, giving students valuable insight into sports science and self-care practices that support physical performance.
