Executive Report
Assessments
As we approach the end of term, it's a busy time at the College! Students across all year groups are finalising assessments, and we’re proud of the focus, resilience and effort being shown across the board. A huge thank you to families for your ongoing support during this time—your encouragement makes a real difference.
A reminder that our Homework Centre runs on Mondays and Wednesdays, 3:15-4:45pm, in the library.
Year 7 Camp
Last week, our Year 7 students enjoyed an unforgettable camp experience! Students embraced the opportunity to connect, grow and push themselves outside their comfort zones. A big thank you to the staff who attended and made this experience possible.
Inter-School Chess Tournament
We're proud to be hosting the Inter-School Chess Tournament this week! Three of our talented Year 7 and 8 boys are representing our school and we wish them the best of luck.
Uniform Reminder
As the cooler weather begins to settle in, we kindly ask families to ensure students are wearing school-branded jumpers and tracksuit pants. We’ve noticed an increase in non-uniform items being worn, and we appreciate your help in maintaining our school’s sense of pride and identity.
If your child has borrowed any uniform items recently, please ensure they are returned to the office as soon as possible.
Congratulations!
A huge congratulations to Kevin in Year 7, who took out Gold at the NSW State Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Championships! This marks his fourth gold medal in a row—an outstanding achievement that reflects his discipline, determination, and dedication to the sport. We’re incredibly proud of you, Kevin!

Community Access Day – Exploring Augmented Reality
This week’s Community Access Day was a wonderful success! Our students visited Waverley Library again, where they had the exciting opportunity to explore augmented reality through an incredible program called Quiver.
Quiver is an augmented reality colouring app that brings students’ artwork to life, creating fun, interactive, and engaging learning experiences for people of all ages. The students were amazed to see their creations come alive and thoroughly enjoyed every moment of the activity.
We are very grateful to the welcoming and supportive staff at Waverley Library, who provided such a fantastic learning experience for our students. Their kindness and enthusiasm made the day even more special.
We are excited to share that the library is planning to host us again soon! Our students are looking forward to their next visit, where they will have the chance to extend their learning and deepen their understanding of augmented reality using Quiver.
Again, all students were showed kind and respectful behaviour.

Debating News
Rose Bay students have been enjoying a blistering start to the debating season, with every team having taken home at least one win in the opening three rounds.
Round 3 against Reddam House was our best week yet, as years 7, 8, 9, 11, and 12 took home a confident win.
The general theme was ethical issues, and the juniors debated banning the consumption of alcohol and affirmative action in the workplace. A special mention goes to our year 9 team, who currently remain undefeated!
Our seniors debated whether governments should be permitted to use conscription. Year 11 and 12 brought home a win, while year 10 fell short in a high-quality debate.
Rose Bay chose the right day to put on a show, as Ms Archer was in attendance and spectated the wins from year 9 and 12. A special mention also to our eager year 7s and 8s who have started to build a culture of spectating the other teams – it is truly a testament to the shared excitement and community that is being built by the Debating teams at RBSC.
It is also worth celebrating the hard work done by our external coaches, many of whom are former Rose Bay debaters, who have done an excellent job preparing our students for Eastside.

11 Geography Excursion
Year 11 Geography this term went on an excursion to the Cronulla Sand Dunes. As a part of our topic Earth's Natural Systems, we examined and discovered how the dunes are an integral part of coastal ecosystems, and the effects humans and natural processes have on these dunes.
Throughout the day we explored the dunes uncovering all they had to offer and conducted our own investigations. We used different geographical tools and equipment to record different data such as vegetation, light levels, wind speeds, aspect and other features. It was clear how important these dunes are and what we need to do to protect them.
The excursion was a really fun way to get out of the classroom environment, into nature and have a day of learning in a space not normally experienced!

Year 12 Geography Excursion
On Wednesday, 13 March, our Stage 6 Geography students participated in a fieldwork excursion to Chowder Bay to support their learning in the Ecosystems and Biodiversity topic. The focus of the day was the study of kelp forests, an essential marine ecosystem that plays a crucial role in supporting biodiversity, stabilising coastal environments, and sequestering carbon.
Students explored the structure and functioning of the kelp ecosystem, investigating the interactions between biophysical components and human influences. Using fieldwork methods such as transects, species identification, and ecological surveying techniques, they collected and recorded data to analyse spatial patterns and ecological processes.
This hands-on experience enhanced their understanding of the threats facing kelp habitats—such as pollution, rising sea temperatures, and coastal development—and the importance of sustainable management practices.
Our students did the school proud, showing great enthusiasm, teamwork, and respect for the natural environment. Their conduct throughout the day reflected a strong commitment to learning and environmental stewardship.

Sport News
Our Senior volleyball teams have had a busy first term. Thanks to Mr Luke McNaught who organised for us to play a gala day against JJ Cahill. Both teams had an amazing day which helped to prepare our team for their first round knockout competition.

VET Excursion
On Tuesday March 25th, 8 students from our VET Entertainment cohort attended a technical tour of Sydney Opera House. This was a once in a lifetime opportunity for students to see how Australias flagship venue is run.
We traversed the bowels of the theatres, met with expert personnel and evenstood on the stages shared by some of the worlds greatest ever performers. It was a very special event and we have been invited to attend a tour like this each year with our senior VET Entertainment cohort.

Careers Bites Program
Would you or someone else you know in our local community like to be a part of the RBSC Careers Bites Program in 2025?
This is a great program which aims to bridge the gap between external industry and our internal school community, providing RBSC students the opportunity to hear first hand experiences from local community members about life post school, the inner workings of different industries and the world of work.
Perhaps you, a family member, family friend or another connection you have are small business owners, an apprentice or tradesperson, lawyer, doctor, nurse, psychologist, pilot, community liaison officer etc., (the list is endless!) and would like the opportunity to speak with students in our school community. All career fields are valued and we welcome any level of experience, profession and area of expertise.
Sessions run for 30 minutes each (including question time) and offer valuable insight for students into different fields of work.
If you would like more information or would like to be involved, please email Miss Georgia Bowd: georgia.bowd4@det.nsw.edu.au
