Newsletter Term 1 Week 6
Executive Report

We are thrilled to share some fantastic news regarding our students' achievements in sports this term. Our talented swimmers recently represented the school at the Zone and Regional Swimming Championships, where their dedication and hard work truly paid off. In addition, our Under 14's Rugby League team celebrated a remarkable victory against Gymea Technology High School last week. The boys displayed exceptional teamwork and we look forward to their upcoming matches.
Looking ahead, our Boys Volleyball team is gearing up for their upcoming match on Thursday.
We would also like to take this opportunity to thank all the teachers involved in these events. Your dedication and support play a crucial role in our students' success, and we deeply appreciate the extra time and effort you put in.
Thank you for your ongoing support of our students and their achievements. Let’s keep the spirit high as we celebrate these successes together!

Beyond sports, our students have been actively engaging in various excursions that complement their learning across different subjects. Classes in Earth and Environment, Geography, Legal Studies, and Marine Studies have organised exciting trips that provide real-world connections to their studies, enhancing their educational experiences in meaningful ways.
Ms Archer received a letter from the Minister last week acknowledging the high level of care, wellbeing and academic support of all our students. This letter was prompted by a member of our community writing to the Minister identifying the high level of care and support for their godchild. It is always gratifying to have our staff effort acknowledged. Thank you.
As we approach NAPLAN testing, we want to extend our best wishes to all students participating. Your preparation and effort will surely shine through, and we believe in your abilities to do well.
Finally, we are excited to announce that musical rehearsals have kicked off and are progressing nicely. Dance rehearsals are also underway with all students showing great commitment. Ms Archer was impressed with the progress and focus of our junior troupe of Year 7 and 8 students at their Tuesday morning rehearsal this week.
SENTRAL
Assessments are being issued and we have raised the possibility of having a filter for year flags with Sentral. They are looking into this so we will keep you posted.
We are aware that the positive rewards have slipped off the sentral parent portal and this will be reinstated as soon as possible so you can celebrate your child’s diligence, citizenship and academic success.
School Buses
Transport inspectors will be on the buses over the next two weeks. Please remind your child to ensure they have their student Opal card and are using this to tap on and off. Transport uses this data to allocate bus routes. If students do not tap on, they are not counted, and this may result in loss of bus services for the College.
IEF News
This week, all students from the IEF faculty were back in the kitchen, learning about safe practices and how to handle kitchen utensils properly. The highlight of the week was making sausage rolls—which were absolutely delicious!

Co-Captains Report:
Our rugby team, newly formed two weeks ago, faced Gymea Tech in an exciting match at their home. After an hour-long bus ride, we gave it our all and returned with a 38-10 victory. Everyone played their part, showing great teamwork and determination in a tough but rewarding game. Thank you to Mr. Godby for coaching us, Mr. Hughes for his support, and the school for funding most of our expenses. To celebrate, we headed to McDonald's and KFC, something we had been looking forward to all day.
