Mobile Phones
A reminder to all parents that all mobile phones are banned in NSW Secondary schools. Rose Bay Secondary College has a gate to gate policy which means that phones and air pods are switched off and in bags before entering the College gates and do not come out of bags until students exit the College gates OR enter the gymnasium to assemble for buses at the end of each day. Lunch orders can be pre-ordered or a debit/credit card/cash used to purchase food at the canteen. Any student with their phone out or hot spotting from their phone, will have the device confiscated and collected by parents at their leisure. Repeated breach of these expectations could lead to disciplinary action.

IEF News
The week has flown by, and IEF3 had another fantastic week!
A major highlight this week was that every student successfully signed up for a Waverley Library card! Our community access was both enjoyable and productive. We had a private tour of Waverley Library with a wonderful librarian Danielle, and ALL students received their full memberships and library cards. Academically, students continue to make great progress in their literacy and numeracy skills. In geography, students are learning about the flora, fauna, and landscapes of the Blue Mountains. In technology and history, students explored the history of mosaics and have created their own unique mosaic designs.

Davidson Shield Cricket - Round 1
The Open Boys Cricket Team travelled to Sutherland to play Gymea Tech High in Round 1 of the Davidson Shield on 18 February. With 8 new faces amongst our Starting XI, it was a very inexperienced team that took to the field after the opposition won the toss and elected to bat. Our opening bowlers, Jeremy S and Asher J, bowled with discipline and skill, restricting the opposition’s run rate early on. They were well supported by Doug K and Jamie S who later made inroads into the Gymea batting lineup with some excellent leg-spin and medium pace respectively. Unfortunately, our fielding was somewhat inconsistent with some (13) dropped catches helping Gymea to scrounge 120 runs before being bowled out in the final over of their allotted 30 overs. Best figures were from Doug (3/13 from 6), Jeremy (2/13 from 6), and Jamie (1/22 from 5). Special mention to Elliott J who ended with the outstanding figures of 1/0 off 0.1 overs, and to Charlie B who enacted two successful runouts.
Chasing low targets can be challenging, however our opener Doug followed on from his great work with the ball to carve an imperious 72 not out that set the tone and put us quickly on the path to victory. He received good support from Matt O who made a solid 13 batting at number 3, before he was joined by skipper Ed S (27*) for an unbeaten partnership of 60 that saw us reach the target in the 18th over.
Man of the match honours were awarded to Doug for his outstanding all-round performance; however, it was an excellent team effort that sees us drawn against Jannali HS in an upcoming Round 2 match. Most importantly, the boys were fine representatives of the College and played with great effort and sportsmanship throughout the day.
